The Project Engineer is a leader and coordinator for the technical expertise of their team on land development design projects. This position coordinates closely with the team leader to develop and execute project specific goals within a team environment. The Project Engineer is responsible to prepare project expectations, review and prepare plans for technical and municipal compliance, and ensure that the product provided to the client meets the standard of excellence set by the company. This role includes coordinating with the Team Leader to determine project priorities, guiding projects and project budgets successfully, and elevating associate's technical capabilities. This position requires the greatest level of care for the companies project deliverables and team growth dynamics to provide the best service and quality to our clients.

Responsibilities

Expertise

  • Experience within the industry with diverse projects and project types to bring creativity and technical competence to engineering challenges
  • Lead a design team on land development design projects 
  • Works with team to share technical skills and expertise within the team to grow others
  • Prepare task scheduling to the team to ensure that deliverables can be completed in a timely manner by the team based on agreed upon client's goals
  • Work with the Team Leader to manage labor expectations, team workloads, and budgets for current and future projects
  • Build your personal expertise through outside training, personal study, and industry events 

Communication

  • Communicate and track team member technical progress and provide verbal and written feedback to associates and the Team Leader about individual's progress
  • Prepare and document project progress for notification to the client weekly, including project status letters
  • Provide the primary point of contact on projects for sub-consultants and internal team members. Preparing, managing and coordinating the project schedule and communicating it consistently
  • Communicate excellently through email, phone and face to face. Work with the Team Leader to navigate communication of complicated or difficult messages to internal associates and clients

Accuracy

  • Review weekly labor reports and assist in review of timesheets as requested to ensure that project deliverables are receiving appropriate attention and updating weekly schedules as necessary
  • Coordinate internal project deliverables in conjunction with internal project workflow documents and ensure that QAQC goals are met
  • Ensure that reports, plans and other deliverables meet both the company's rigorous standards for quality prior to being submitted to clients or municipalities. When necessary maintain client provided standards on deliverables
  • As the primary sealing engineer for a team, review project deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and quality to avoid errors and omissions

Transparency

  •  Keep an open-door policy with staff members to allow for review or projects, in process training opportunities and potential technical mentorship of existing staff
  •  When necessary, communicate skill or project deficiencies quickly and clearly to make team adjustments that are consistent with company policies and excellence expectation
  •  Understand labor, utilization, timesheet and project goals to effectively coordinate with the Team Leader in communicating team goals and workload expectations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field
  • Five or more years of experience post graduation
  • Experience and desire to work in open collaborative team environment
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license 
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visa.
