In this position you will work collaboratively with Project Managers on private development projects ranging from large scale master planned communities, residential developments, and commercial and industrial projects. Clients include private developers, property owners, national homebuilders, and industrial distributors.

Responsibilities

  • Development of site plans from concept through construction, with limited guidance and supervision
  • Design of plans to include knowledge of water conveyance and retention, utility easements, parking, open space, access/egress points, vehicular circulation, landscape areas, etc.
  • Conduct zoning code, land development regulation and comprehensive plan research, and apply standards to design concepts with limited guidance and supervision
  • Prepare mathematical calculations for site plans, including pervious area, impervious area, site density, building coverage, FAR, sign area, etc., with limited guidance and supervision
  • Prepare modification of drawings based on input from Project Manager and/or Client
  • Coordination with clients and consultants and act as liaison to government agencies
  • Prepare presentation material, such as PowerPoint presentations and graphics
  • Attend public hearings, development review meetings and community outreach meetings with Project Manager
  • Work with Project Manager to maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Manage design deliverables and minor submittals
  • Review invoicing with Project Manager
  • Manage entry-level designers, including review of their work product, as well as provide direction on design tasks
  • Works under the direction of a Project Manager on the Land Development Team and will present information to senior management and other team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or related design profession from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated 5+ years in progressively responsible design experience in private planning practice
  • Demonstrates reliable understanding of the relationship between design and constructability
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience using computer software programs including SketchUp, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator is a plus
  • Proficiency in preparing hand drawn sketches, graphics and illustrations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write business correspondence and presentations
  • PLA registration is a plus
  • Ability to work as a team, or independently
  • Night and weekend work may be required
  • Travel to other office locations may be required
