Responsibilities

  • This position will require planning expertise and analytics support for clients including private sector, state, and federal agencies.
  • Perform and manage professional planning projects, studies, research, and analysis including long range plans, community redevelopment plans, sub-area/corridor plans, land use policy, comprehensive planning, city master plans, park and recreation master plans, and school master plans
  • Provide professional planning advice and interpretation on matters related to various policy documents, and gives direction relating to various policy projects
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and implementation documents for consideration by public agencies on policy matters, special projects, and other planning matters
  • Develop and prepare written reports and other project deliverables, such as long-range plans, community redevelopment plans, sub-area/corridor plans, land use policy, comprehensive planning, park and recreation master plans, and school master plans
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal growth management laws
  • Representation of projects before client, local government staff, zoning boards, citizen groups, and elected bodies
  • Organize and conduct community outreach meetings, stakeholder interviews, innovative public engagement techniques, and design charrettes

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban planning, geography, spatial analysis, data analytics, or closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience in planning and project management
  • 5+ years of experience writing and/or interpreting municipal codes of ordinances
  • 3-5 years of experience applying GIS to resolve planning problems (e.g., site selection network analysis)
  • Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Projects
  • Mastery of Esri products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Survey123) and familiarity with alternative products (QGIS)
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas

 

Strongly Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • High level of comfort manipulating and cleaning data
  • Demonstrated knowledge of at least one of the following: Python, R, Stata
  • Familiarity with Git and GitHub

Preferred Certifications:

  • AICP
  • GISP
