Overview

WGI’s Structural Restoration Group is looking for an Architectural Restoration Associate. Candidate needs to demonstrate a sound understanding of building construction and building envelope design. The candidate will work closely with other technical experts, aid in the development of younger engineers as well as meet set project and financial targets. This position is listed for WGI’s Downers Grove, IL Office (Chicago Area).

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on investigations, condition assessments and construction observations which may include surveying, documenting distress and preparing site visit reports.
  • Assist in the new design, evaluation, investigation, and design of repairs for existing buildings.
  • Assist with drafting and preparation of repair documents including specifications and written reports.
  • Research codes, materials, and systems to stay current with building technology.
  • Attend client meetings and participate if needed
  • Work closely with team members and assist if needed to complete projects on aggressive schedules.
  • Maintain a highly organized and detail-oriented professional sense.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering
  • New graduate - 5 years experience
  • Previous field observation and building envelope evaluation preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and AutoDesk Revit software.
  • Knowledge of other software platforms including Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office and SketchUp.
  • Must be able to able to climb ladders and scaffolds and work at great heights.
  • Detail oriented with an understanding of building codes and industry standards 
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and willingness to work on all aspects of the Architecture business 
  • Ability to efficiently complete project assignments with minimal supervision, and take personal pride to research, learn, and grow within the profession 
  • Talent and experience are both strongly considered 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel regionally and across the US to complete engineering condition assessments, construction site visits, client meetings, etc.
