We are currently seeking a SUE Project Manager to lead the oversight of our projects related to Subsurface Utility Services. The candidate we seek must possess a minimum of 8 years of professional experience. You will be part of our Geospatial division in our Northeast area of operations. A primary emphasis will be providing services within the Chicago, IL (Downer's Grove).

  • This position leads a team of SUE professionals consisting of crew chiefs, field technicians, CADD technicians, and others in the winning, production, and delivering of SUE products to the client.
  • This person is responsible for the management of (SUE) projects including the phase/task management of the SUE/utility locating portion of multi-discipline projects and standalone SUE assignments.
  • Major responsibilities include writing, coordination, and input on proposals, maintaining schedules, ensuring quality of the work, directing project efforts, meeting project financial objectives and maintaining client relationships.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to analyze, review and finalize collected data to ensure compliance with ASCE 38-02 (and its soon update), project proposal requirements and client expectations.
  • Maintain current familiarity with industry standard ASCE 38-02 geophysical methods of designating and locating techniques, including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), electronic pipe and cable locating equipment, and vacuum excavation systems.
  • Oversee and manage ASCE 38-02 Quality Level A(QLA), QLB, QLC, and QLD projects as follows:
    • Project planning, field deployment, existing information assessment, and technology tools required to successfully execute utility designating and locating assignments.
    • Correlate visible utility facilities with existing utility records and field collected data.
    • Understand the utility coordination process, sources of record information, and possess the ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings.
  • Review project deliverables for compliance with the scope of work and client expectations.
  • Track and manage project financials and provide support on invoicing and collection activities as required.
  • Participate in client meetings, conferences, seminars, and related business development initiatives.


  • Bachelors Degree in construction/engineering or survey/geomatics field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of SUE project management experience, with a minimum of 5 years of total progressive experience in field/office utility locating processes and procedures.
  • Experience with IDOT or other DOTs strongly preferred.
  • Must be a team player with an attitude that fosters growth and teamwork. This position will be a leader of WGI field and office staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced results driven environment.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
  • A valid driver's license is required
