Responsibilities

  • Design and develop transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway layouts, traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and lighting systems.
  • Conduct traffic engineering analyses, including traffic impact studies, capacity analysis, and signal timing optimization.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on ITS technologies, including traffic management systems, adaptive signal control, and connected vehicle applications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and project managers, to deliver integrated transportation solutions that meet client needs and project objectives.
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to assess existing conditions, identify design constraints, and propose effective solutions.
  • Review and evaluate proposed transportation improvements and developments, providing recommendations and feedback to clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering, and incorporate them into project designs and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in FL; additional licensure in neighboring states is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on traffic design and ITS.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as MicroStation and ORD. Synchro is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles, standards, and guidelines, including MUTCD, AASHTO, and ITE.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

  • Experience working with state and local transportation agencies, as well as private-sector clients, is highly desirable.

  • Microsoft office skills – including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Travel to other office locations may be required
