Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and administer the VMWare virtual server infrastructure (VSI) and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) including the servers, software, and hardware.
  • Design, plan, implement, and administer server and storage technologies in support of underlying virtualization infrastructure.
  • Installing, configuring, and integrating servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.
  • Performing backups, troubleshooting and problem resolution for servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.
  • Building highly available server clusters in a vSphere environment
  • Monitor and trouble shoot system performance within the VMware environment.
  • Building and configuring virtual networks
  • Create and maintain VM templates used for rapid deployment of virtual machines.
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of hardware maintenance, upgrades, repairs, or replacements to Network LAN/WAN servers supporting the virtualization infrastructure.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other peripheral devices
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software systems
  • Set up and maintain user accounts in Active Directory and other systems
  • Respond to user inquiries and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex technical problems
  • Document all support activities and solutions in ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira
  • Assist with network troubleshooting, including DNS, firewall, and VPN configurations
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree a plus
  • 4-10 years of experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with the VMware Horizon View environment including Connection Servers, Desktop Pools, vCenter, and thin/zero clients, including but not limited to:
  • Using VMware's Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) for user profile management
  • Using App Volumes to Virtualize Applications
  • Expert ability to install, configure, optimize, and maintain VMware Horizon View
  • Experience configuring the VMware Horizon Client, Dell Thin Clients, ThinOS, and/or Dell Wyse Management Suite
  • Expert hands-on administration experience with VMware tools including ESX, ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, and other virtualization technologies and concepts.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of VMware core components and their relation to storage and networking, and is proficient in data center design methodologies.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge with Active Directory Administration, GPOs
  • Ability to work independently toward delivery of goals as well as collaborate in team efforts
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies and disciplines quickly
  • Ability to document processes and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; handle multiple priorities; and provide results in a timely manner in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize own work and manage time effectively.

Experience with the following products is a plus:

  • VMware technologies: vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, vSAN, Horizon, etc.
  • Dell Wyse Management Suite
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Rubrik
