Overview

We are seeking Structural Engineering Intern (EI) - Transportation / Bridge with 0 to 4 years of experience to be part of our Transportation team.


In this position, you will assist in the development of transportation design projects for clients such as FDOT and municipalities. Some familiarity with Florida DOT design policies and procedures is preferred. The candidate will work in a fast-paced engineering environment where projects may be derived from a number of delivery methods including conventional publicly bid projects and design build. Over the last two decades, WGI has delivered a variety of transportation projects including some of the largest and most complex interstate projects in the state of Florida. Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering designs and plans for various structures including reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation related structures
  • Assist in the creation of engineering documents including Bridge Development Reports, Bridge Load Rating Calculations, and Design-Build Technical Proposals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college (Masters preferred)
  • Passing score on Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Proficiency or ability to become proficient in Structural Engineering Software including Leap Bridge, Conspan, RC-Pier, STAAD, MDX, Midas, FB-MultiPier, MathCAD, and Microstation (Geopak knowledge a plus)
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and work on large multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas
