The Senior Mechanical Engineer will act as the engineer of record on construction documents for Plumbing and HVAC in a variety of markets including multifamily, commercial, high-rise, hospitality and more. The Senior Mechanical Engineer reports to the Product + Technology team leader. They will be expected to have strong relationships with city plan reviewers and utility company designers to expedite and resolve design and construction issues.  A Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as a mentor to less experienced engineers and designers to foster an environment of learning, quality, and project achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Direct a team of engineers and designers to work from architectural plans and base files to produce quality engineering construction documents in Revit.  
  • Design & Seal Plumbing and HVAC construction documents with systems including duct work, piping and equipment sizing and selection for a variety of project types. 
  • Train and guide less experienced engineers in technical matters including the performance and teaching of calculations such as pipe sizing, pump and boiler sizing, HVAC load calculations, etc. 
  • Lead and maintain strong working relationships with manufacturers and technical representatives for plumbing and HVAC equipment in support of equipment specifications and design support. 
  • Attend design meetings with Project Managers and serve as an independent expert resource for clients during design and construction. 
  • Coordinate with Team Leaders and Project Managers of progress on assigned projects and projects of team – particularly in support of resource planning. Communicate & propose solutions to design concerns with project managers and clients 
  • Be and industry expert; attend industry events, including established relationships in the community, gaining specialty knowledge in their area of practice and creation of content to show & support design expertise. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida 
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in the field of new building mechanical engineering construction, specifically in the project types listed above 
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit
