Overview

We are seeking a Transportation Business Development Manager, with at least 10+ years of experience for our Transportation Division in our Tampa, Fl office.

 

The Business Development Manager – Transportation plays a critical role in driving business development, client engagement, and operational excellence for the Transportation Division. This position ensures seamless proposal execution, supports strategic planning, and fosters strong client relationships to achieve annual business goals. This role collaborates with firm leadership, technical teams, and business development professionals to implement strategic pursuit, interview, and presentation efforts.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: 

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching market trends, competitor activities, and emerging client needs. Leverage data analytics and CRM insights (AEC360) to inform growth strategies and target high-potential projects. 
  • Develop and implement tailored Touchpoint Plans for key clients, ensuring regular engagement, tracking future opportunities, and maintaining detailed activity logs in AEC360.
  • Manage and maintain CRM system (AEC360) data integrity; generate reports and insights for leadership. 
  • Oversee proposal development, ensuring compliance, quality, and alignment with division goals. Participate in go/no-go decisions, red team reviews, and support pursuit managers in crafting client-centric content. 
  • Work closely with marketing, strategy, and operations teams to align business development efforts with organizational objectives.
  • Mentor and train staff on business development fundamentals, proposal best practices, and client engagement strategies.
  • Conduct internal sales meetings and client opportunity reviews for major clients.
  • Assist leadership with proactive communication related to business development efforts and successes as well as division-wide messaging. 
  • Set clear, measurable goals for business development activities and proposal teams
  • Lead efforts to proactively update and maintain resumes, project descriptions, photos, and boilerplate materials.
  • Manage or support the management of proposal teams, including coordinators and specialists. 

Qualifications

Education & Experience, Skills and Communication:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing. 
  • Minimum five years of experience in the A/E/C industry preparing proposals for federal, state, and municipal clients. 
  • Related experience may be considered instead of the required education. 
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. 
  • Strong understanding of transportation agency work programs (FDOT, NCDOT, CFX, THEA).  
  • Proficiency in AEC360 CRM, Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), Word, and PowerPoint.  
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organizational and project management skills, ability to lead meetings and train teams.  
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines (best cat-herder ever).  
  • Experience in business development, client engagement, and proposal management.  
  • Proven track record of achieving business growth targets.  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.  
  • Adaptable to changing market dynamics and business priorities.
